What do I need to install a Big Cartel theme from Nine?

You’ll need either a Big Cartel Platinum, Diamond or Titanium package. If you have basic experience of HTML you can install the theme yourself, or go for our Installation option. You will also need either a server, or a free Dropbox account.

Are the themes fully customizable?

Yes. When you purchase a theme from Nine you are sent a download link instantly to a ZIP file which contains the HTML, CSS and JS files you need, as well as detailed installation instructions. You are able to customize the HTML, CSS and JS as much as you like. The CSS and JS are merged into single files (not minified so can be changed easily), and all Nine themes use the jQuery javascript library.

Will I have to re-enter my products if I integrate a new theme?

Nope. The theme only modifies files associated with the look and feel of the site. We do recommend that you back-up your current theme, but your product data is always safe.

Are your themes a one-off payment, or if there a monthly/yearly fee?

All of our themes are a on-off payment, you get the download link sent to you instantly, and you can re-download the theme files when needed.

What needs to be hosted on my Dropbox (or server)?

You need to host 2 code files, a javascript file that powers certain aspects of your store, like the slider and grid layout, and a CSS file, which contains all the style coding. You will also need to host your slider images in either Dropbox, your own server, TinyPic, or another image hosting provider. Other theme providers sometimes offer to host the files for you, but we highly recommend against this. Hosting the files yourself gives you the security and flexibility to make changes, now or in the future.
